Clot Retrieval Devices

This procedure includes a thin wire with a tiny corkscrew on the tip. It is threaded through the femoral artery in the groin and up into the brain. The wire is advanced through the clot, and the curly corkscrew wire is deployed to snag the clot.

A successful new procedure—Marie Kuhn of Tamaqua, Pa., is back to her everyday activities thanks to the clot retrieval device that was used to treat her stroke.
